A discussion meeting was held in Rajshahi to strengthen coordinated initiatives for improving education opportunities for marginalized and underprivileged urban children.
Organized by BARCIK, the event brought together volunteer members of the Barendra Youth Forum, representatives of the Urban Poor Rights Implementation Committee, and members of several organizations working on child education. Participating organizations included Nobojagoron Foundation, Surjokiron Social Welfare Organization, Choto Shopno, Tatka Foundation, Uttaran, Samajik School, and Swachchhalata.

The session was moderated by Md. Shahidul Islam, Regional Coordinator of BARCIK’s Barendra Region, while the presentation was delivered by BARCIK Community Facilitator Tahura Khatun Lily.
The main focus of the discussion was ensuring education for underprivileged children, identifying challenges in running educational activities, and exploring sustainable solutions. Speakers said that many marginalized urban children remain outside regular education due to poverty, family instability, and lack of awareness. Therefore, they emphasized on the need for more effective, participatory, and child-friendly learning environments.
Participants stressed that collaborative efforts among organizations would make educational programs more dynamic and effective. Through experience sharing, coordinated planning, stronger community engagement, and proper monitoring systems, education initiatives for disadvantaged children could be expanded and strengthened.
The meeting also announced that, with support from BARCIK, a policy framework would be developed to guide the implementation of these initiatives.
